2009 MLS Award Finalists

Major League Soccer announced their finalists today for their Year End Awards. Wednesday will start with the announcement of Goalkeeper of the Year and the Fair Play Award...yawn. Who wants to win the Fair Play award? That's got to be like kissing your sister.

On a side note, MLS Newcomer of the Year nominee, Freddie Ljungberg made his list of the Top 5 Stadiums in the World. Yeah, you guessed it, both Qwest and Emirates Stadium are on there...I think the dude's drinking too much coffee.

I'm also thinking that the Sterlinho Crew needs to give out our own awards. Stay tuned!

Ljungberg on Press Pass

With the Sounders in New York this weekend to take on the struggling Red Bulls, Freddie Ljungberg sat down with Derek Rae to talk about his time in MLS.

One question, Sigi. Why didn't you insert Ljungberg into the game as a late sub? Are you telling me that you're content with a draw on the road in New York against the worst team in the league? Why is Jaqua still starting when LeToux makes more dynamic runs and clearly works harder and is definitely faster? Why Sigi, why?

And for the Arsenal fans...more with Freddie and the Press Pass crew.

On Par with Holland

Prost Amerika posted this piece with quotes from Freddie Ljungberg. The most encouraging thing to me is that we're on the same level as the Dutch league and better than Sweden. Not bad for a league that started in 1996.

Baldness in Seattle

This just landed in my inbox from the Sounders organization.
Note to self, don't move to Seattle unless I want to lose my hair.
