CONCACAF Champions League Highlights (Update)

I finally found some highlights of the Red Bulls match against W Connection. The match recap and highlights start at the 28 second mark.

Does anyone else think that Group C looks like the Group of Death?
It also looked like Kevin Goldthwaite took a page out of Stuart Holden's School of Give-Aways. Here's his response:

Did he just say, "lack of leadership from everybody?" (1:25) Hmmm, maybe that's your problem right there. You see, having a leader means someone has to follow. Not everyone can be a leader Kevin.

I'll keep looking for the Red Bulls vs W Connection Highlights. But for now, here's Juan Carlos Osorio's response to their loss last night to the Trinidad & Tobago side.

CONCACAF Champions League Highlights

The first game of the night featured Toronto FC at Puerto Rico.

I hope these MLS losses in Champions League make the league officials and owners vote for a higher salary cap and bigger rosters. With that said, I like Colin Clarke's side and hope they make another great run in the tournament. One last thing, that red card to Kendall Jagdeosingh was weak. Something has to be done about the refs in this region.

DC United then took on LA Firpo in El Salvador.

That was a great free kick by Christian Gomez. I was also impressed that all five of United's shooters hit their penalty kick. That doesn't bode well for the Sounders if the US Open Cup final goes to a shootout.

The final game had Pachuca going in with a plus 3 goal differential...it didn't get any better for Jalapa.

2009-2010 CONCACAF Champions League

Red Bulls Reader posted this video of the CONCACAF Champions League draw. I have a couple of thoughts:
1) The NY Red Bulls suck right now and don't deserve to be in the tournament the way they're playing.
2) If CONCACAF want the tournament to be taken seriously outside of CONCACAF, then let's make the draw a big event. Bring in ex-players with World Cup experience, models, celebrities (Drew Carey's a shoe in), etc... I'm sure you could make it part of a charity event for Haiti or Nothing But Nets.
3) After re-reading point #2, maybe the Red Bulls deserve to be in the tournament after all.

Happy Champions League Final Day

I would like to wish everyone a happy UEFA Champions League Final Day. Once a year my old college teammates will actually take time off of work to sit down and catch the game with me over lunch.
We here at Sterlinho are Manchester United Supporters, but we didn't recently jump on the bandwagon like all of Chelsea's American supporters. I became a fan of ManU when European Football was just starting to make its way on to TV sets in the USA. I'll never forget Allen Hansen's famous line, "you'll never win anything with kids" when ManU lost to Aston Villa on the opening day of the 95-96 season. There was a sense of satisfaction watching "the kids" who were close to my age, like Giggs, Becks, Scholes and the Neville brothers win the Premier League Title. So I've been a United fan ever since. We've had our ups and downs along the way like any other relationship, but its been good the last few years. So I can't hold it against Sir Alex that we no longer have my favorites from the Treble winning team in '99 like Becks, Yorke and Cole. Besides I could watch Ronaldo all day long.
So happy Champions League Final Day and enjoy the match.
