Don't Forget

ESPN/2 is stepping up and away from it's anti-soccer stigma. I am looking forward to some BPL and La Liga in High Definition, at last.

ESPN to own PL rights.

Disney-owned ESPN has won the two packages of games shown on Saturday teatimes and Monday evenings. It says both will be sold through BSkyB.

It has also won the 23 games per season Setanta was due to show from 2010-13.

The league took the broadcasting rights back from Setanta on Friday after it missed a payment deadline.

The Premier League had set a deadline of Monday for other broadcasters to submit offers for the games.

ESPN said in a statement it had "reached an agreement for its coverage to be retailed by Sky to residential and commercial customers".

'British commitment'

It is the first time that ESPN will broadcast live Premier League football in the UK.

The broadcaster already has two channels in the UK, one covering American sports and another showing archived action.

Russell Wolff, managing director of ESPN International, said: "This move demonstrates our commitment to British sports fans and our ongoing commitment to delivering football to fans around the world across a variety of media."

"ESPN have a formidable worldwide reputation and experience in sports and I am sure we will enjoy a long and fruitful relationship with them," said Premier League chief executive Richard Scudamore.

"I would like to thank ESPN, as well as all the other broadcasters who submitted bids, for their professionalism and effort in engaging in our sales process at such short notice."

Let's just hope ESPN doesn't show 20min of a BPL game, because baseball takes priority.

Sounders FC vs DC United Highlights

This goes out to anybody that wasn't at the game and had to sit through college baseball instead of an exciting, attacking soccer game. Way to go ESPN. You totally ruined it for Seattle footy fans. You can let ESPN know how you feel by clicking here. But remember, you only get 500 characters to express your outrage. Let em have it!

ESPN's Game of the Week/Weak!

To Everyone's surprise, only 30min of the Sounders vs United game was shown, due to the intense battle of a college baseball game. ESPN did show it again, but in my opinion it loses much of the excitement and intensity you would have when watching it live. This isn't the first time this has happened. I have waited many a times for baseball, woman's B ball and volleyball to finish in order to watch my 1 game a week footy action. It's a bit frustrating and infuriating that such a giant network pulls this lack of organization. In what I have now tagged "The ESPN Anti-Soccer Conspiracy," After tonights match again this "World Wide Leader in Sports," leaves me begging the question. If you are such a leader in Sports, why is it that you only show your 3 main sports religiously? American Football, Basketball and Baseball. If you were such a leader, delaying the game and showing only 30min would not of happened. I expect more from you and more fairness in your broadcastings! If you think people were ok with the game being viewed on ESPN360, then you were mistaken! Many cannot get that web channel since you limit providers and a game such as this should have been the priority and the intense action packed COLLEGE game should have been on your 360. Bad form ESPN. Am I the only one who feels this way? Am I in the wrong for being so harsh? I smell Jim Rome behind this.
