UEFA Champions League Draw

The UEFA Champions League draw happened earlier today and there are some intriguing matchups.

VfB Stuttgart v Barcelona
Olympiakos v Bordeaux
Internazionale v Chelsea
Bayern Munich v Fiorentina
CSKA Moscow v Sevilla FC
Lyon v Real Madrid
FC Porto v Arsenal
AC Milan v Manchester United

The Chelsea vs Inter match catches my eye because it has The Special1 returning to face his former club, but for me the biggest matchup has to be Manchester United vs AC Milan. David Beckham was hoping for the match up earlier in the week and I have to admit that I didn't think it would happen. I guess I shouldn't doubt Goldenballs. So now Patrice Evra gets to try and shut down the former Old Trafford legend as United look to make it three straight Champions League finals in a row. I can't wait for mid February!

We All Knew It Was Coming

The LA Galaxy officially announced the loan deal of David Beckham to AC Milan during the winter transfer window. That has got to be one of the worst kept secrets of all time. Personally, I thought Becks looked slow and sluggish on Sunday against Chivas USA. I can understand Beckham's desire to play for his country in the World Cup next year, but I'm starting to feel like it's setting a bad precedent for the rest of the DP's around the league.

The Milan Derby

I thought AC was playing well to start the match...and then the wheels fell off.

Milan Derby at Foxboro

Would like to have seen Gooch stop the first goal, but I will give him a pass since it's only his 3rd game with the new club.

Gooch to AC Milan

United States defender Oguchi Onyewu has joined AC Milan on a three-year contract the club said Tuesday, becoming the first American to join Serie A in more than 10 years.
Milan acquired Onyewu from Standard Liege in Belgium after some outstanding performances in the United States’ run to the Confederations Cup final. The U.S. lost 3-2 to Brazil in the final.
Financial details of the transfer were not disclosed. Onyewu also holds a Belgian passport and he will likely be registered by Milan as an EU player.
The last American to play in Serie A was Alexi Lalas, who played for Padova from 1994-96.
The 27-year-old Onyewu was born in Washington D.C. after his parents emigrated to the United States from Nigeria and helped Standard Liege to two consecutive Belgian league titles.
